Established with a mission to expand financial opportunities and foster connections among African American growers in North Carolina, the African American Growers Network is dedicated to supporting both seasoned producers and newcomers alike. Our organisation bridges the gap between producers and consumers, ensuring that growers have the necessary resources and networks to succeed.
Our vision is to see African American growers across North Carolina equipped with the business acumen, farming resources, and connections needed to thrive in their respective environments, regardless of geography, farm size, or experience level.
The African American Growers Network engages a diverse audience, including producers in urban and rural settings, as well as consumers such as restaurants and farmer’s markets, fostering direct connections to local food producers.
To achieve our mission, our strategies include:
Resource Mapping Utilising ArcGIS technology to identify growing conditions, locate African American growers, and compile essential data to inform decision-making.
Resource Sharing: Facilitating connections between growers in need of tools, grants, and other resources with nearby opportunities to support their livelihoods.
Expanding Business Opportunities Coordinating education, outreach, and partnerships with restaurants, farmer’s markets, grants, and enterprises to bolster the visibility and success of African American growers statewide.
Networking Cultivating relationships across geographical boundaries, experience levels, and organisations to ensure that African American growers have the support and connections necessary for sustained growth and success.
Join us in our mission to empower African American growers, strengthen communities, and create a thriving agricultural landscape across North Carolina. Together, we can cultivate a future of prosperity and abundance for all.
